Terms Of Service

Rooted Sessions provides the software. When you book a session, your photography agreement is between you and your photographer — they set the pricing, the coverage, the deliverables and the cancellation terms. Rooted Sessions is not a party to that agreement and does not photograph sessions.

You need an account to book a session or run a studio. Keep your login details private and give us accurate information — contracts, invoices and reminders all rely on it. Client accounts and photographer accounts are separate; one email belongs to one side.

You must be at least 18 to create an account, or have a parent or guardian book on your behalf.

Photographer plans are billed monthly or yearly after a 7-day free trial. Your plan renews automatically until you cancel, and you can cancel anytime from Studio → Billing. Cancelling stops future charges and keeps your access through the end of the period you've already paid for.

If we ever raise prices, existing subscribers stay on the rate they signed up at. Price changes only apply to new subscriptions.

Session payments — deposits, payment plans and balances — are collected by your photographer through their own connected payment account. Rooted Sessions passes the payment through and does not hold your money. Refunds and payment disputes for a session are handled by the photographer.

Photos, portfolio images, contract text, questionnaires and anything else you upload stay yours. You give us permission to store and display that content only as needed to run the service — for example, showing your portfolio on your booking page or delivering a contract to your client.

Don't upload anything you don't have the rights to, and don't upload anything unlawful, harassing or explicit involving minors. We can remove content and close accounts that break this.

Don't attempt to break, scrape, overload or reverse-engineer the service, access other people's accounts, or use Rooted Sessions to send spam.

We work to keep Rooted Sessions running, but the service is provided as-is without guarantees of uninterrupted availability. We may add, change or retire features over time. If a change materially affects a paid plan, we'll let subscribers know by email.

You can close your account anytime. We can suspend or close an account that breaks these terms or creates risk for other users. If we close your paid account without cause, we'll refund the unused part of your current billing period.

To the extent the law allows, Rooted Sessions isn't liable for indirect or consequential losses, and our total liability for any claim is limited to what you paid us in the twelve months before the claim.

If we update these terms, we'll change the date at the top of this page, and we'll email account holders about anything significant.
